Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout
The Lamar River and Yellowstone Lake, in Yellowstone National Park, and the upper Snake River near Jackson Lake have long been a stronghold for this species. However, the illegal introduction of highly piscivorous lake trout into Yellowstone Lake have limited the population there. A small population also still holds on in the Goose Creek drainage of Nevada
Note that Robert Behnke draws a distinction between Yellowstone Cutts and Snake River finespotted cutthroats, which can be found in the Snake River and its larger tributaries between Jackson Lake and Palisades Reservoir, just over the border in Idaho.
