Paiute Cutthroat Trout

Where to find them:

Paiute cutthroats were eliminated from their native Silver King Creek by hybridization with rainbow trout. However, before this ocurred, some had been transplanted to other nearby waters, where the species survived. To protect these fish, no fishing is allowed in these waters. The California Department of Fish and Game is trying to restore these fish to Silver King Creek and, if successful, may open it to fishing as a heritage trout water
