Interesting Blog
If you are interested in this site, you might be interested in Sam Snyders blog: Headwaters: Musings on Fly Fishing History. Sam recently finished his Ph.D. dissertation on the conservation and restoration of native fish and published one of his chapters on the restoration of the Rio Grande Cutt in The American Fly Fisher.
He's now doing a postdoc at the National Sporting Library in Middleburg, VA. I'm hoping he'll join the conversation at this site soon and share some of his findings.

good to be here

Thanks for the kind shout out.
I am excited to find this page, the conversation, and the community. Like many of you, I grew up chasing all sorts of fish, but grew in time to love and admire native trout. New Mexico is home to me, so Rio Grande cutts have a special place in my heart.
My (academic) background is in sociology (of religion) and environmental ethics. I have long been interested in how our experiences in nature (fishing) give rise to certain values of ecological ethics, and how we in-turn engage those ethics in action through activities like grassroots conservation or ecological restoration (not to mention how those values and ethics play out in environmental conflict or its resolution).
I am excited to join this community to hear your stories about fishing or playing in nature, encounters with native fish, and varied work to help protect or restore those fishes . . and of course your adventures fishing for them! I also look forward to sharing my own stories, pictures, and thoughts on native fish with you all.
