Bull Trout

The USFWS is holding hearings and accepting comments on its proposal to increase critical habitat for the bull trout.

In total, the Service proposes to designate approximately 22,679 miles of streams and 533,426 acres of lakes and reservoirs in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Montana and Nevada as critical habitat for the wide-ranging fish. The proposal includes 985 miles of marine shoreline in Washington.

I encourage everyone to take a look at the proposal and make your voice heard, whatever your opinion may be. See: http://www.fws.gov/pacific/bulltrout/

Thanks Anders

Jason Dunham from USGS made me aware of this last Fall.  It is kind of scary to think where the Jarbidge River population is at right now.  This subpopulation in NV is critically endangered and no telling what is going on with it now.  Same goes for the Silvies River and Uppler Middle Fork Willamette Drainages in OR as well.
