High Altitude for Golden Trout

Date:
July 20, 2008
Notes:

On a trip to California, my dad, brother and I went up through the Whitney Portal to look for Golden Trout.  We camped at Horseshoe Meadows at elevation 10,000 ft.  It was a lot higher than Seattle at elevation 0 ft.  I was breathing hard just opening a can of chili.

We hiked up along Cottonwood Creek.  This small stream is full of Goldens, small but fiesty.  Perfect for a 2 wt rod.  Don't forget your mosquito repellant.

We all caught a few for photos and headed back for a well deserved cigar and celebretory beer.
